Soil & Water Conservation Districts

Hendricks County Soil and Water Conservation District is an independent, legal subdivision of state government, funded by state, local, and private contributions. They are responsible for administering the natural resource programs within their county boundaries by:

There are over 3,000 Conservation Districts throughout the nation. In Indiana, the Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors consist of 5 non-paid county residents who oversee the district operations and represent the needs of land users in the county. The Board of Supervisor members are either elected by ballot or appointed.

Also, Associate Supervisors may sit on the Board participating in the decision making for the district business, but do not have voting power.
