56th Annual Meeting

The District’s 56th Annual Meeting was held at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Center in Danville. The meeting began with the meal catered by Sandy Moore Catering and was attended by approximately 120 people from the Hendricks County District, with a few visitors thrown in. Jim Loughmiller presided over the annual meeting.
The business part of the meeting is to report about the activities of the District and to provide a financial statement. Please look for the Annual Report insert in this newsletter in case you missed the meeting. Also an election was held. Mike Starkey of Lincoln Township was elected to a three-year term as Supervisor. Jim Loughmiller was re-appointed by the State Soil Conservation Board to serve another three-year term as Supervisor. Hendricks Circuit Court Judge, Jeffrey V. Boles handled the oath-of-office ceremony.
Awards were given during the meeting which is always a highlight.
Carol Wood received the Donald H. Lawson Award for Conservation Education.
Jack Maloney received the Conservation Farmer of the Year Award.
Our speaker for the evening was Phillip Anderson, Executive Director of the Indiana Rural Development Council (IRDC) a non-profit Council that works with communities and organizations to make rural Indiana a great place to live, learn, work, and play.
